Gated parking with AI license plate recognition
A plate read opens the session at entry and closes it at exit. ParkingChief runs the sessions, payments, rules and enforcement on top of LPR cameras, vehicle gates, pay-on-foot kiosks and pedestrian doors, all supplied by ParkingChief.
Book a demoA gated parking system, built AI-first
ParkingChief is the software layer of a gated lot or garage. AI license plate recognition opens a session at the entry lane and closes it at the exit, and payments, permits, validations and enforcement all attach to that one session. The lane hardware (LPR cameras, gates, kiosks and pedestrian doors) is supplied by ParkingChief, and a site can start with one location. No paper tickets to print.
How a gated facility runs on ParkingChief
Plate recognition at entry and exit
The entry camera reads the plate with AI license plate recognition and ParkingChief opens a digital session for that vehicle. A monthly permit or a validation on the plate is found in the same lookup, so the gate lifts without a ticket. At the exit the second read closes the session, and the fee comes from the location rates and any event rate on the calendar that day. Plate reads that need a second look go to review, never automatic action.
- Paperless entry and exit on the plate
- Permits and validations checked at the lane
- Time-stamped entry and exit on every session
Pay on foot, at the exit kiosk or on the phone
A parker walking back from the building pays at a pay-on-foot station: it finds the car by plate, shows the amount due and takes the card, and the exit lane already knows the visit is paid. Drivers can also pay at the kiosk in the exit lane, or scan a QR code and pay in the phone browser. Every channel writes to the same session.
- Pay-on-foot stations that find the car by plate
- Kiosk in the exit lane for drivers who pay on the way out
- Scan-to-pay in the phone browser, no app
- Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, receipts by text
Permits, validations, enforcement and reports on one record
The session the camera opened is the record everyone reads. Monthly permits renew on the plate, merchant validations apply to the visit, enforcement checks the same status on patrol, and the operator portal reports entries, exits, occupancy and revenue from those sessions.
- Monthly permits recognized by plate
- Merchant and partner validations on the session
- Enforcement sees the same paid, permitted or validated status
- Reports by location with CSV export
Hardware supplied by ParkingChief
Every piece of a gated lane is supplied by ParkingChief: LPR cameras, vehicle gates, kiosks and pedestrian doors.
LPR cameras
Cameras at the entry and exit lanes read each plate so the session opens and closes without a ticket. The reads run through AI license plate recognition and land on the session record.
- Reads the plate at entry and at exit
- Each read lands on the session
- Unclear reads go to review
- Supplied by ParkingChief
Vehicle gates
The gate arm lifts for a plate the session covers: a permit, a validation or a paid visit. Entry and exit lanes follow the same session record.
- Lifts for a covered plate
- Entry and exit lanes
- Follows the session record
- Supplied by ParkingChief
Exit-lane kiosks and pay-on-foot stations
A kiosk in the exit lane lets a driver pay without leaving the car: the camera reads the plate and the kiosk shows the amount due. A pay-on-foot station does the same for parkers on foot, before they return to the car. Both land on the same session as a phone payment.
- Camera reads the plate, kiosk shows the amount due
- Pay-on-foot stations find the car by plate
- Paid status ready at the exit lane
- Supplied by ParkingChief
Pedestrian doors and gates
Doors and pedestrian gates are how parkers walk between the parking and the building once the car is parked, or on the way to pay on foot before they drive out.
- Between the parking and the building
- Lobbies, stairwells and street exits
- Supplied by ParkingChief
Pilot program, no long-term commitment
Run ParkingChief at one of your locations and see it working before you decide on the rest.

Questions operators ask
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the LPR system capture?
The system reads and logs license plates as vehicles enter or exit parking areas, creating a time-stamped record linked to enforcement, permit, and validation data.
What happens if a plate is read incorrectly?
Enforcers can manually verify or correct any plate read before taking enforcement action. The system flags readings for Enforcer review, not automatic enforcement.
Who supplies the LPR cameras?
ParkingChief supplies the LPR cameras, along with vehicle gates, kiosks and pedestrian doors. Our team advises on placement during onboarding, and a site can start with one location.
How is plate data protected?
Plate data is stored securely with access limited to authorized users. Retention settings follow your internal policies and applicable local regulations.
